As far as NetFlix goes--VERY HAPPY with it. If you rent 2 or more movies a month, it's definitely worth it. And as busy as I am, I don't have that extra errand hanging over me when it's time to return the movie.
I was and still am a BIG fan of Shaun of the Dead. Who doesn't love old Zombie B Movies? Shaun of the Dead provided me with zombie nostalgia, comedy--lots of laughs, gore for the husband, along with great writing and acting.
While searching for a Hot Fuzz pic on the web, my Yahoo! search said it might contain some adult-oriented content and I must turn off my SafeSearch to continue. So I googled it and found nothing but Hot Fuzz material. I didn't really navigate past the first page of images though.
Hot Fuzz was just as entertaining as Shaun of the Dead. The duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are just as great as always. Pegg, the unrelenting straight man forever having jokes bounced off him by Frost, the bumbling slob, make the best comedy team of our generation.
One of my fave scenes? The lady on the bike. You'll know it when you see it. The ketchup packet gave me great ideas for our next family reunion.
The direction is much like Shaun as it was directed by the one and same, Edgar Wright. You'll feel it when a pint is served. The sound effects on surround sound are AWESOME. Hearing a pint being filled to your left and right is downright cool. (thanks to husband's Christmas gift to himself one year!)
Pegg's epiphany in the last half hour offers awesome action, smart gags and endless what's-gonna-happen-next camera direction.
On the DVD, check out the special features for hilarious outtakes and "Funk Off", a series of short clips displaying how the movie was made TV-friendly with typical ScarFace editing.
Action, comedy, mystery--what more could you ask for? I hope these cats continue to make more films. I need some more ideas on how to get out of family reunions.
Yarp!
