Ah, will Hollywood ever stop with the remakes? Of course not!! Because Hollywood is out of ideas and apparently out of talent. Just look at all the Disney remakes Lindsey Lohan starred in. Ugh.Ok, so I went in expecting a little Bad Santa. I thought Billy Bob Thornton did an awesome job as Buttermaker, however I was a little disappointed. I think Walter Matthau was a bit more true to the character, taking the boozing and I-could-care-less-attitude to the extreme.
The remake is almost IDENTICAL to the original, and of course, I went in hoping small changes would be made, expecting a bit more. Instead of a pool man, Buttermaker is a rat cleaner of basements and so on.
Although I laughed a couple times, I didn't laugh nearly as much as with the 1976 original. I don't care how many Sunday afternoons you spent half-paying attention to the overly rerun movie on TV, it's still a classic and always will be.
The remake doesn't hardly compare.

I never even saw the remake because I don't like Billy Bob. He's a nasty weirdo...in my opinion. ;o)
