How May I Help You?

It's Wednesday. I was standing at the tail end of the line to check out in the grocery store. It was the first day of the new week's sale.

What was I thinking?

I peered over to see a single woman at the self checkout. "I should learn to use those things. Sure, prices haven't gone down because of them, but at least I'll get outta here sooner," I thought to myself.

One single learning trip down the self checkout thing might be horribly long, but once I get the hang of it I might--

"Wha choo want?" I heard.

I looked up to see the woman self checking her items who was apparently asking a question to the attendant. The self checkout guard with a phone permantly grafted onto one ear repeated herself:

"Wha choo want?!"

Ok. That, that is why I refuse to learn those things. I KNOW I am going to be stoopid about it and not know how to work the darn thing AND somehow, pay by check. I KNOW I am going to have to ask for help my first time (and probably my second and third at minimum).

I certainly don't want to get into a fight because a rude attendant with a phone strangly growing out of her left ear is too "busy" to help me.

That's why.
