Hmmm. The mayonaise didn't fair so well. With the power out for about 2 days, we of course kept the fridge closed. I placed blocks of ice inside and hoped for the best. Surely, the mayo would be OK, I thought.
Surely not.
"I've had violent diarhea this afternoon," I told Shawn.
"You put mayo on you're sandwich, didn't you? A LOT of mayo!" he teased.
"No! ....a little bit. But not a lot!"
So I cleaned out the fridge and freezer, threw out anything I might even question. Anything having to with chickens was out. Pork...out. The lettuce was looking a little funky and the quickie ready made soy-beef burgers (what? they were cheap!) were waaaaay too soft for having been in the freezer.
My balls of frozen dough had thawed, refrozen, thawed, froze again when the power kicked on and looked like one big lumpy mess of sticky goo.
I made my first trip out today to the store, splitting my purchases across two major stores, several sales fliers and a couple paychecks if I can help it. Man, that was a lot of ruined food.
Basically I'm just rambling on about this to take my mind off things. Shawn's mom is seeing the surgeon today. Shawn is with her. I haven't heard anything from anyone other than there was a two & a half hour wait.
Mom says the surgeon is supposed to be on the new tonight. He's supposed to be one the most sought out heart surgeons around. Still, I worry about my mother in law's healing process.

Condolences on the loss of your groceries...
And on your having the "urgencies".
Hope all goes well with your Mother-In-Law.
