The Wal-Mart Incident

So I bought this cheesy, cheap phone for $10 and in a box the size of a Buick, paid for it in the express lane at the Wal-Mart and made for my car.

On my way out, I heard *ding* followed by something completely impossible to understand in the form of a video instructional voice. A very elderly man and middle-aged woman srping into action and chase me down hollering, "Ma'am! Ma'am!!"

Apparently my cheesy $10 phone set off the Stolen Electronics Detector. I didn't steal it, it just wasn't deactivated. So the old man waves a wand-like thing over every individual item in my bag before deciding it was the phone. Of course they both scrutinized my reciept, and I figure they're doing their jobs, until I thought back two weeks ago.....

A couple of weeks ago, in wee hours of the morning, a crazy nutcase walked into Wal-Mart, broke into the case where the shotguns are held. He then proceeded to a box of bullets and simply walked out of the store. No fuss, no muss.

You might think a Wal-Mart employee or patron might have heard the glass breaking on the shotgun case. You might think someone would stop this nut before he loaded the gun. But the guy simply walked out and crossed the street to Walgreens where he beat the crap out of a clerk.

Where are the very elderly man and the middle-aged woman at this time, you might ask? I dunno. Nobody does. But let me try and walk out with a cheesy $10 phone--that I paid for--and they come running after me like I stabbed someone and ran off.

Save money. Live better.
Unless you happened to be shot in the 20 Items or Less Lane.

So I guess it is more "dangerous" to pack a cheap phone in the US instead of a shotgun . Oh I can only imagine the horror unleashed to the people around you when you make a call with it in this era of PDAs , 3G phones etc., it is just so "provocative" ,lol. On the other hand, with a shotgun what is the worse than can happen... the gun could go off... big deal:)

So next time, get a shotgun as well and see the respect and admiration in the employees eyes, they will probably award you with a customer of the month award:)

Later!

Right, like I can't even make a bomb out of a plugged-in cordless phone!

I'd have to do that with my cheesy $20 cell phone. It's shattered into thrity pieces--twice now (after being dropped) so it should explode quite nicely.

(....I AM JOKING PEOPLE!)

I swear I set that stupid thing off half the time I go to Walmart & crazy thing, it's 50-50 if I'll get stopped.
