Hmmm. Still not much traffic here. I was told if I commented my heinie off on other blogs, I'd see an increase in traffic. No such luck. I was told that content is key. Well, at least Skittle seems to like it OK (Heeeey gurl!)
I'm in a quandary. I want to revamp my ads, but what's the point if there's no one's reading? And I certainly do not wish for the blog to be a blog about ads.
Take Intermission at Work, for example (sorry, Joe--I gotta use ya as an example!) When I first found this blog, it offered short reads, movie reviews and cute theater stories. From there, it became cluttered with so many ads that I had a hard time finding the posts! The page took FOREVER to load and there was so much stuff at the bottom of each post, I could barely find the comments section.
This is nothing against Joe, or course. I assume all us wish we could quit our day jobs and write for a paycheck. However, when one gets caught up in the mess--that's all that's left. I have seen blogs where you literally had to search and sift through the ads just to find the posts. Too much work.
It appears Joe has decided to do some retooling and forgot to save his widgets. I only hope he goes back to a more simpler page, and yes while still maintaining his ads.
As for me....well anyone who is a regular here (all two of you) knows my page is ALWAYS under construction. I'm always trying to find that perfect fit that will make me a blomming hit. The "coming soon" in my head is way more complex than what I post in my updates. I too wish I could stay home and get paid to blog.
Ok, ok, so I'm gonna move around the junk at the top and add some stuff to the sides, dress things up a bit and add a new drop down for my videos. And yes, alas--the home grown music videos I made a few years ago using a PS2, VCR and a CD player will be coming shortly. Thinking of buying a DVD recorder with some of my $300 lottery winnings. (I've already spent $100 on groceries and necessities)
As far as traffic goes, if it's not about leaving comments, or writing about stuff people want to read.... Then what is it, exactly?
As far as the page goes, I am always open for suggestions. I would ask if it's easy to navigate and easy to find the old stuff--but no one reads the old stuff because it's pointless to leave comments there. No one will stumble upon your blog based on a comment in a post that was written months ago (except Mandy--heeeey gurl!).
So....what's in the way? Like the new drop down menus? Stuff easy enough to find?
(Coincidently I have just signed up for AuctionAds )

Um... Can I be honest? Blogging about making money from blogging is the turn off. You're a good writer, but you and a few others keep bringing up making money with the blog like that's the main focus and main reason why you're doing this at all, and nobody wants to be part of a money making machine, really. It's the same thing that turns (smart) people off of Paris Hilton.
Just makes a reader feel a little dirty is all. Sorry.
I hear ya loud and clear. I fully appreciate honesty and good critcism. Point has been received :o)
