Shawn went back to hospital to find out what the MRI revealed:
When everything snapped back into place, his knee cap went in crooked and a piece of cartilage ripped in half. They said his knee will never be the same, ever again.
So he's scheduled for surgery on the 28th, 2 weeks from now. They'll make three small incisions and send in a scope to see what's going on. They'll try to fix it. If they can't, they'll have cut a flap of skin and remove the funky cartilage.
And Shawn doesn't even play football.
I always thought overweight people had knee problems, not underweight folks. Several have told me that the tall and skinny always problem joints. Oh goody.
I panicked when I started thinking about how in the world I was going to find crutches in his size. Shawn had called his mother this morning to tell her about the surgery, but other than that, not much else was said.
She popped in later with crutches that go up to 6'6". Lifesaver, there but again, not much was said. You really don't want me to go into detail about all that--it's like opening Pandora's Box. Perhaps I'll write about the family when I run out of things to write about....
My biggest concern is that Shawn was supposed to go on-call tomorrow night. The rotation will have to be shuffled and it looked like before he'd miss Christmas. I just hope and pray he doesn't hit Christmas. I really need him with me for Christmas. If our families weren't so psycho, maybe I'd feel more OK with him working Christmas. But, alas I do not believe Dr, Phil and Opera combined could fix this mess so I really, really need for Shawn to be with me for Christmas!
We've gotten way, way behind on our eBay stuff because we work together so much that neither one of us can do it alone. I suppose if you've been reading and keeping up, you'd know that we're no good without each other regarding many things.
Nights are pretty bad. He's usually in a lot of pain and that keeps us both up. I think I got a combined four hours sleep last night. Work is stressing me out. I'm tired and hungry. I'm behind in the housework...
I will say that we've spent a lot of time together; the most in a long, long time. I joke about Shawn making me nuts, but the truth is, I enjoy it thoroughly.
He's going a little crazy from cabin fever though. He "bought" one our merchandise games and hopefully that will put off a little of the stir crazy.
I know I haven't been very funny lately, and for that, I apologize. You must realize that I am very, very sleep deprived.
