It hasn't snowed here in a about 3 years, and even then it was just barely, the kind that melts right away. These pics were taken yesterday, April 7, 2007. Imagine that!!
Along with all the neighbors, we were outside checking it out. At one point the flakes were so big it looked like chunks of paper floating down.
For those of you who see snow every year, forgive me because we never see snow!! The last time it snowed like this, I was too young to remember it. AND it's doing it in April!! Last Monday, it was 80 degrees!
You can tell we're a bunch a hillbillies; some of the neighbors were out in it wearing shorts. At least I had the common sense to pop out onto the porch in sweat pants. I guess most of us had put away our winter clothes already. I had even made up the dogs' beds for summer and had to drag out their little blankets for the night.
Snow aside, we will be able to go to church this morning. I got up at 6 am and it sounded like it was raining. It was the snow melting. That was an answered prayer. I hate to see it melt, but I cannot miss church on Easter! It might not be so bad, but we're going all the way to Davilla today, about 40 miles and it crosses over several bridges in the middle of no where--where my crappy cell phone will not reach anything.
I thought it might be the beginning of the Apocalypse seeing snow in Central Texas in April! It is merely a gift of beauty. ....And crazy Texas weather!
HE IS RISEN Remember what today is about, even if you have to hide the eggs around the house. It is not about the Easter Bunny and chocolates. The Messiah has come, shed His blood for us and rose up on the 3rd day. My brother in law once asked why Jesus was hung on a cross like a common criminal, like a common man, with common theifs.
Jesus came here, born as a common baby, in a common stable. And likewise, He was brutally tortured (uncommonly) and was hung upon a cross to die like a common criminal. But the tomb did not stay closed, and He rose up to be with the Father. Jesus took on our sins, a sacrificial lamb, and overs us His forgiveness so that we may too rise up to be with God.
Happy Easter and praise God the Father, that we may live, that we may leave our tombs and pains behind.
