911? I have a sore throat!

An EMS respnder called in to the radio and explained that at 2 in the morning, she had to climb aboard the ambulence to respond to an woman who got up in the middle of the night and, get ready for this--

Stubbed her toe.

It wasn't that kind of toe stubbing where the nail is peeling back and squirting blood all over the floor. The woman simply bumped her toe into the leg of the kitchen table as she got up for a drink of water.

911 regulations state that is it up to the caller to decide if it's an amergency or not--not the 911 operator, not the EMS team, not the doctors.

The EMS team is required to take the 911 caller into the ambulence to the emergency room and place him or her into priority or non-priority status.

So either way--you're gonna have to wait. I think the EMS team should push such 911 callers out of the back of the ambulence and give them a good reason to be going to the emgergency room.

And people wonder why medical insurance costs have risen like, 873% in the last few years.
