Not a Kidney Stone

On the 7th I went to a doctor who herded me in and out like cattle. I thought I had a bladder infection (urinary tract infection or UTI) and he treated it as such, prescribing me some antibiotics.

For the past two days my left side has been hurting. Hard to explain the hurt, feels tight, like a muscle locked up. I just came off my period so there's no telling how long it's been hurting, as I had probably dismissed the pain as cramps.

Left work early this morning to go back to a different doctor.

She said I apparently did not respond to the anitbiotics.

Yeah. It happens, she said. Said I have trace amounts of blood in urine, but not enough to be a kidney infection. My side is hurting because UTI was getting worse and the bacteria began to ascend upward--as in to my kidney.

Yippie! I had a choice of 7 days of anitbiotics in pill form or a nice shot. "I just want this hurting to go away and be able to pee without it burning," I said. I requested the shot, planning on going back to work.

She strongly suggested that I go home and rest. I wrote it off as a non-typical doctor who actually cares.

The nurse warned me that the shot would burn like hell. "I can take it," I said. I felt it going in, like pressure on the inside, but it didn't hurt. As soon as I started to walk outta the place my hip began to burn!!!

My whole left hip hurt!! A woman on the elevator asked if I was alright. I'm not going back to work, I thought.

Painfully I drove back to work where my boss gave me a hard time (as in poking fun at me) since I had never had a shot like this--or at least that I can remember. He was glad he wouldn't have to pay me overtime this week and sent me home.

I took a half of a vikoden left over from my wisdon tooth pulling, slept 3 hours and I'm in Vikoden Land right now so I'm gonna go watch TV. Sorry if this was boring. Vikoden Land rocks!

But only when I'm in pain--I'd rather sleep than feel my kidney trying to force it's way outta my gut. At least that's what it feels like. Hey! Get back in there, you! Vikoden is wearing off.
