Ok, I read in the paper today that it was actually Rick Perry (Governor of Texas) that first proposed the Trans Texas Corridor in 2002.
Now that makes sense!
He probably needed a couple new beach houses or something.
There are meetings being held all over the place. For what? It doesn't mean anything. Our opinion doesn't count! The meetings are basically to allow people to vent so someone can say, "Well, we let them speak," and that's about it.
We don't vote on it. Some of us are having land taken away forcefully--some of it having been in a family for generations.
But won't the land owners be compensated?
Certainly, but at what price? Some will lose entire farms that feed their families. Homes will be lost to an uncontrollable storm not named Katrina--but Perry.
Losings one's home to a force is nature is one thing. I could never imagine losing my home because the government wanted to poor a concrete highway over it.
In the words of the wise Daffy Duck, "You're dispicable!"
Carol "Grandma" Strayhorn is against the super highway. Vote Grandma!!
