Now That's Odd

A coworker of Shawn's gave him some internet jokes back in May 2000. I was cleaning out a closet Saturday and found them amoung the piles of junk. The title of this piece is

Things you didn't know you didn't know

Catchy huh?

Anywho, I'd like to offer my opinion. These are not technically jokes, and I don't know how true all this stuff is, but yes people, I do have a opinion to offer on most of it.

American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one olive from each salad served in 1st class.

Americans each an average of 18 acres of pizza every day. (So why is considered Italian food)

Babies are born without knee caps. They don't appear until the child is 2 to 6 years old. (now this one--i think--may be made up. I've never heard of this. What do babies crawl on when they begin to scoop around the rug?)

Elephants are the only animals that can't jump. (really? Seems odd. I would've said that if whales could jump, there wouldn't be any beached whales, but don't they leap out of the water sometimes? Surely there are others that cannot jump, though)

Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and earsnever stop growing. (Ok, now you're just putting me on. I'm sure my eyes weren't this big as an infant or I'd look like a freak. And I'm pretty sure my ears and nose are the same size now as they were when I was 15)

The any always falls over on its right side when intoxicated. (they must all be right-handed. How much would it take to get an any drunk, anyway? I guess Jr. was tired of his magnifying glass that day)

The cruise liner Queen Elizabeth 2 moves only 6 inches for each gallon of diesel that it burns. (So do most Dodge trucks)

China has more English speakers than America. (Now, that I believe)

The electric chair was invented by a dentist. (Sounds about right. Was it my dentist?)

The name of all continents end with the same letter that they start with. (What, like North America? South America?)

The human heart creates enough pressure--when it pumps out to the body--to squirt blood 30 feet. (Neat!)
