Fighting the Good Fight

Salton's Beyond Microwave Oven has a scanner on it. Just simply scan the barcode on you TV Dinner and the oven will automatically download the manufacturer's cooking directions and cook the frozen meal.

Thus, eliminating the dubious hassles of reading one or two sentences on the back of the package and placing your index finger on a couple buttons.

Those crazy cats at Whirlpool are equipping thier newest innovative washing machines with sensors that can read bar codes on the tags of clothing. The machine can program the appropriate wash settings as needed.

My question is, what if you want to wash more than one item at a time? Eek! I've got a cotton sweater and a ployester blouse--together!!! What to do?

Alright, do we really need everything in the house hooked up to a phone line? Even me and Shawn, are basically technologically retarded have a phone line hooked up to our satelitte box. (I'm not sure why, they told us it would save us $5.99 a month on our bill so it made sense to me)

And aren't there enough illiterate folks floating out there? Do we really need a microwave oven that can save us 7 more seconds out of the day?

Ach! It takes 30 seconds to cook! I don't have that kind of time. I want it to be in 10 seconds! But it takes me just that long to read the darn package!

With refrigerators that scan the inside of the fridge and tell your cell phone your grocery list, do you think we've gotten just a little too busy?
