Born a Boy, Brought Up a Girl

I just watched the most bizzare thing on TV. Remember when I talked about that couple that talked to the school about having they're son go as a girl because he went up to them and said "I'm a girl"???

Of course, he is only 5 years old. Kids say the craziest things.


Anywho, what I saw on TV was nuts. Bear with me, I missed the first half hour of the program. In 1965 a couple had a set of male twins. On one of the babies, the circumcision was botched. Apparently it was so bad the doctors suggested bringing up the boy as a girl.

The parents called her Brenda. The child had no friends at school, was depressed, and attended sessions with a psychologist, Dr. Money. Brenda's twin brother, Brian also attended.

Dr. Money had the children place themselves in sexual positions with no clothes on at the age of 7. As to why, I am unsure, as I said, I missed the first half hour. Money put these two kids through a lot though.

At the age of 13, Money suggested to Brenda that she undergo surgery to become a boy. He brought in a transexual by choice hoping Brenda would talk to him or her, whatever it is. It back fired horribly.

Brenda told her parents she would commit suicide if she had to speak to Money any more. The parents decided to tell her the truth. Brenda and Brian were each told seperatly by each parent. Brenda was happy for the first time in her life and renamed herself David. He cut his hair and acted and dressed like a boy and even made friends. David had corrective surgery and recieved compensation from the hospital that botched his circumcision. Brian on the other hand, had become distant from his now brother. The relationship practically died.

Though David was unable to have children he ached for a family. He married a single mom of 3 and all were happy.

Until Money began to publish his research claiming that a child could successfully be brought up in the opposite gender.

David solicited his brother's help in disproving the doctor, since all he'd written was farthest from the truth. David was living proof that this cannot work successfully.

Through all this, Brian had even developed schizophrenia. He was found dead--they are unsure if it was an accidental overdose or suicide.

David visited the grave often and visited his parents one last time. He left and shot himself with a shot gun.



My questions lie with the Dr. Money who remains claiming that he is correct and right in his research. Two young men are dead because of this confusion. Two loving parents who thought they were only doing what was best for their children have lost both their children.

We rant and rave against certain people not getting the death penalty for their deeds. Is there no punishment for.... well, screwing with someone's head to the point of suicide?
