I'm So Congested

The city decided to do away withe roads. Completely. They said it would "relieve congetstion".

Most larger towns have a "loop", a stretch of road with two lanes each way basically connecting the entire city.

Our city decided this wasn't enough so they tore it all up, leaving only one lane each way, each lane being about 14 inches wide and lowering the speed limit to 40 mph.

I used to love taking the Loop because I could avoid traffic lights and haul butt at 60 mph and quickly get to wherever I was going. I completely avoid the Loop as much as possible now.

There are bulldozers, dump trucks, vehicles, massive piles of dirt, guys just standing around while "supervising", cranes, and Catapillars where our mass transit system used to be.

Now, you must fall in line with the other 30, 476 people trying to drive a quarter mile in a lane that's 14 inches wide with gigantic conrete blocks on either side. What used to be a 10 minuet drive now takes 14 days. Better take a lunch, because they say it will done in 2008, which in city government speak means, "27 years".
In oher words, Jesus will be back before the construction is completed. I imagine He'll take one good look at the carnage and say, "You mean you haven't finished it yet?!"

Why did they take away our Loop and give us hours of driving time for a 10 minuet trip again?

To relieve congestion.
