Hollywood's Outta of Talent

Have you noticed the slew of remakes lately? Every Disney film and horror film that was produced between the sixties and seventies has been remade with more current stars. Why? There are writers of all sorts of talent out there. There are books just begging to be turned into multi-million blockbuster hits.

So, again... Why?

Because Hollywood is out of talent.

Let's take a gander at Disney's "Let's get 'em and keep 'em" contracts:

The Parent Trap remake starring Lindsey Lohan
Freaky Friday remake starring Lindsey Lohan
The Love Bug remake starring...sigh...Lindsey Lohan

And let's not forget that just about every movie Tim Allen has starred in was made by Disney, the most current being The Shaggy Dog remake.

And what did they do to Garfield and Scooby Doo? Blasphemy! I remember the old Garfield and Friends cartoon and the Thanksgiving Special; the original Scooby Doo cartoons before it became the new glossed over version that's currently serving time on Cartoon Network.

Why are we willing to shell out money to see remakes and live action cartoons?

Because, obviously, Hollywood is very much out of talent. I mean, is there anyone out there who ever thought Lohan was this brilliant actress?

Apparently Disney did, or at least they could get her under contract for cheap.
