"Did you sleep much last night?" someone asked.
"Yeah. Why?"
"You just look tired.... Your eyes look tired," he said.
"That's just my face," I replied.
I'm not sure why, but I've always had dark circles under my eyes. Even in my baby pictures. And I'd find one for you so I could prove it if I weren't so pressed for time. And, yeah, so I'm using the same old pic I always use of me from a year ago. Do something. Go on. Yeah, I thought so.
Anyway, the dark circles are not due to lack of sleep, but rather genetics. Every photo of me ever taken includes these massive dark circles. OK, well except for my senior yearbook photo because I was forced to go to a professional photo place where a woman slathered theater make-up on me and wrapped a feather boa around my shoulders.
The guys got to wear tuxes. Us girls got feather boas like we just entered a brothel. Ah, high school.
Once again....anyway, as far as I know, I'm a European mutt. Now, I have nothing against Easterners or Eastern woman, but you do have to admit that 99% of the population have noticeably dark circles under their eyes. It's just in some countries....you can't see them for the cover-up.
But take for example the woman below. It's just naturally dark under her eyes. I have recently become quite confused about my background. My father's side is mostly Czech, as far as I know and my mother's side a good mix of French, Irish, and Redneck.
On the other hand, no one else in the family has these heinous circles under their eyes like I do, except after a night of no sleep. And I look exactly like my dad, so I'm not questioning that aspect.
All I'm saying is, if you see me on the street--don't ask me if I'm tired. That's just my face. That's just the way I look. That's the way I always look. And oddly enough, I'm usually quite sleep deprived.

So you dont get much sleep do you? Oh damn, I did it again... bummer:)
Same mistake, ok , ok it is all about genetics and hellish shading , gottcha:)
Later.
Try sleeping for a whole day with cucumbers on your eyes... You've probably heard this before but you never know!
Makeup people would say "do something to draw attention away from your eyes."
I say going topless would do the trick.
Let us know how it works out for you.
Elise...I have heard about cucumbers, but I do not have the time!
And I don't wear make-up (I'm blue collar) and even when I've tried to cover it up, it looks freakishly white so I just leave it.
Mooog...Going topless is um, sorta outta the question. No one sees these puppies but hubbie and gyno. Get yer mind outta the gutter, man!
I can relate- my family's italian and scottish and we have huge dark circles under our eyes, all the freakin' time. nothing helps but concealer, and who has time for that?!
nice blog!
I have to say Moooooooooooooooooooog did make me laugh though. I belive the large gaping whole on my chest would definately draw the attention away from my eyes :)
Don't you just love the questions that some people ask. I've always wanted to think of something really sarcastic to respond back to them with...but nothing yet.
