Snap Judgment on Ramsay

On Sunday I watched three episodes of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC. Ahhh, the BBC. The very same who brought us Benny Hill, John Cleese, and Monty Python's Flying Circus. I love those Brits.

I must say I had misjudged Chef Gordon Ramsay. I had merely based my opinion of him on the commercials for Hell's Kitchen and since he was always screaming and cursing at everyone who breathed too loudly....well, let's just say after watching BBC, I consider him to be a real cool dude.

Sure, he's got a filthy mouth, but he has enough respect for his mother that he doesn't curse in front of her. I watched Hell's Kitchen on Monday, both episodes and instantly got sucked into the addiction of it. I realize service can make or break a restaurant and that you have to scream to get the orders out, however I do not believe in cursing your employees to get your point across.

Even when mistakes are made, people ought to be treated as humans, but Ramsay is teaching these young chefs that it's OK to act like him. I don't agree with that at all.

I asked Shawn why one dude got kicked off the show. "Because he kept messing up," he said.
"Well, he was nervous! It's hard to concentrate when you're scared to death of being ridiculed and screamed at. That one poor girl couldn't even fry an egg!" I said.

If someone were screaming at me all day at work, I'd be messing up things too. And then I'd look for a new job.

I love Chef Ramsey. I think he is so freggin' funny! I mean, the people on his shows sign up for it. They know how he is before they sign up, and they still do, so too bad for them when they get yelled at!

Thanks for visiting my site, by the way!
