Shoutout! Holla!

I gotta give a shout out to Skittle. Check out the blog at http://sevenskittles.blogspot.com/

She commented on my parents wanting to give me moolah:
As far as your parents go...if they aren't hurting for money & you could use it...take it. (but be slow about it) Seriously, when they leave this earth they can't take it with them & if the Holy Spirit is waking your dad up about it, then he isn't going to sleep until he has helped. It's a blow to the ego...I know, but don't let things get bad because of it. Financial strains aren't good on marriages & you have a good one (so it seems)...keep it that way!

The thing is, they don't really have much money that I know of. They have to keep decent vehicles because they both drive so much for work. Dad is in a carpool but Mom works alone for a magazine distribution company.

They just bought a brand new GMC (because they are the best, really) and they want to give me $300
Jokingly, I say they are telling me God is telling them to do this so I won't argue because you shouldn't argue with God.
We're fine I assure you! After Shawn's used up his vacation, he should only be short two weeks' pay at the most. We have that much in savings.

The only thing I really worry about are the issue with my stomach lately. Been getting weird pains all week. Have had them before, but less frequent. Putting off any trips to doctors till Shawn's up and going. Who would take care of us? :o)

I suppose if we were both down, I could set out three buckets like in the movie Trainspotting:
One for urine
One for feces
One for vomit

Oh, and a cooler filled with sodas and snacks!

We've never asked for money other than at the bank. We've never accepted money other than when my Dad forced us to take $100 towards a washing machine. It's not an ego thing--it's a worry thing. My tummy hurts.

Yeah, Skittle comes up with some okay advice every now & again, I guess...lol. (Okay people, I'm allowed to say that b/c she's my sister).

I totally know how you feel about not wanting to take the money, though. I've never asked for or accepted it from either of our parents until his Mom volunteered to pay for his school this year. And really, I'm glad we took it! Just don't do it often, and don't beg for it, and I think it's fine!
