The Great Nerd Convention of 2007
For some odd reason, our satellite provides a channel called G4, a channel dedicated to video games 24 hours day. I just happened to be channel surfing last Sunday and just happened to see that G4 was running a 4 hour long coverage of Comic Con '07
I taped it and watched about one and a half hours of it, fast forwarding through the stuff that didn't interest me, such as anytime the "reporters" open their mouths.
A Great Swelling of Nerds
Yes, I did in fact tape the show because I haven't read a comic book in a loooong time. I stopped reading for many reasons. The top four reasons are:
1.Price.
2. Anime everywhere. Ugh, Anime.
3. The constant killing off of my fave characters and having them reappear as clones, only to die again and reappear later in some odd form.
4. Stories too complicated, running into 30 other titles to tell one story (see issue #12 for explanation) OR not complicated enough and kiddie-lame.
Issue #12 was printed in 1967. I'll never be able to afford that. See Wikipedia.
These days, why do any of us have to read comics or even play video games when we can simply wait for the movie and get a fix in two hours or less?
So what did I learn?Looks like Robert Downey Jr. (ugh) will be playing Tony Stark aka Iron Man.
Saw that G4 will be running an animated series based on Spaceballs the movie. That's cool.
Batman Dark Knight (Batman movie...number 6? Is that correct?) will be out next summer. I hope it's based on the book. I had borrowed it from my brother in law a few years ago and it. Was. Awesome.
And....that's about it. Pretty down right boring.
Haven't heard anything about the Wolverine movie.
Anyone know about it? I'm too lazy to look it up on the net.
