This past Thursday, I finally got to use my washer and dryer. It was a little strange having them in the house. For as long as I've been out of my parents' house, I've always gone to Laundromats.
There were a couple gallons of water on the floor of the laundry room. I was a little ticked off that I had to mop, but still happy to have the washer. I'd tell Shawn about it when he got home. About an hour later, I got out my Indiana Jones hat and prepared to enter the Garage of Doom to look for some wood glue for another adventure.
The Garage of Doom is Shawn's domain, or rather, his dominion. Besides the Den of Destruction where all junk is stored, this is the only place attached to the house that looks like this. But it's not really in the house, just attached. So my housekeeping skills are not affected by it. Nor did they have any effect on it.
I cautiously entered the Garage of Doom. It was dark so I readied my whip to stave off any natives. As I peer over the cliff's edge of the kitchen steps and oer the mountains of tools, junk, dirt, and motorcycle parts, I noticed something new.
The Garage of Doom had developed a lake. Well, it was once a lake, but now it had nearly dried up.
Oh no! The washing machine was on the other side of the wall! All the water that was in it flooded the garage floor! It wasn't like, inches of water, but the floor was all wet. I didn't know what to pick up or even what to look for! There was stuff everywhere on the floor and on table, and ew...what's that?!
Sadly, I left my machete back at the village so I decided now was not the time to clear the bush in the Garage of Doom. I told Shawn of the news when he got home and he was quite dismayed. He said he'd clean out the garage Saturday (today) and figured the drain to the washer was either messed up or was never hooked up at all.
We'll see. I've still got those windshield wipers we bought in February that he never put on. Yes, as I've said, I could do it...But there are PRINCIPALS involved here. Kinda like that stinky suitcase on Everybody Loves Raymond that sat for 2 weeks. Only we're going on several months here.
I'd told Shawn that I'd even be willing to put money into it if he cleaned out the Garage! Peg board and shelves and small tables! Why, we could make the Garage of Doom a virtual paradise!
We'll see.
On the bright side, the floor of the laundry room is really, really clean!
